An ode to the city of Amritsar

Situated in the old town of Amritsar, SCT is India’s first multiplex. With the building being over five floors high, the first step was to design and simplify the circulation in the existing property. Owing to its proximity to the Golden Temple, the interior was designed to reflect a classical aesthetic as a reflection of the cultural context. An ode to the historical city of Amritsar, the flooring features a chessboard pattern that is complemented with stripes on the concessions. Multiple low-height chandeliers are placed at regular intervals to light up the room with golden lights.

Having a strong association with the old city and Suraj Chanda Tara, the multiplex is considered to be a  heritage property and is reminiscent of the city’s culture.
