Rooted in Nature, A Canvas of Biophilic Design
Located in the heart of the bustling city of Noida is the Godrej Woods Clubhouse. True to its name, the clubhouse bridges the gap between nature and the built, with its indoor spaces seamlessly spilling into the outdoors. The design vision was to establish the clubhouse as a natural extension of the residential spaces, fostering a sense of continuity and comfort that resonates with the residents. As stipulated by the client brief, each zone subtly conveys a sense of understated luxury. At the same time, spaces of relaxation and well-being are peppered generously throughout the contextual design of the 40,000+ sq. ft floor plan, providing its residents with an enhanced connection and enjoyment of the natural landscape that ensconced it with intention.
A key challenge in the design process has been balancing the distinct functional requirements of a clubhouse while maintaining the homely, welcoming atmosphere that is inherent in residential spaces. Integrating nature into the fabric of the design by embodying the principles of biophilia helped address this challenge. Through curated artwork, this connection has been further strengthened, forming distinctive spatial identities and creating unique spaces. The design vocabulary has been meticulously crafted to foster social interaction, relaxation, and community engagement.
The stilt level houses a grand reception, a reading lounge, a multipurpose hall, a squash court, a crèche, a mini plex, and meeting rooms. Minimalist aesthetic and statement pieces forge a calming atmosphere, inviting guests into a space that seamlessly extends the comforts of home. On the podium level is an all-day dining café, a games lounge, and a kids’ party area. The space comes to life with energetic bursts of white and blue, drawing inspiration from the timeless architecture of Mykonos and infusing the environment with a fresh, coastal vibrancy. Whereas the first level houses dedicated wellness spaces, including the gym, the yoga room, a spa, a salon, steam rooms, and a sauna designed with biophilic elements and plenty of light, ensuring a holistic, nature-infused workout environment.
The artistic vision at Godrej Woods Clubhouse is carefully woven into the design, with each space reflecting its own distinct identity while maintaining a unified narrative. In the multipurpose hall, artwork graces the walls, with biophilic patterns etched into a sand-blasted stone panel, naturally drawing the eye. The muted colour palette ensures the artwork stands out without overpowering the environment. On the other side of the reception, the entry to the squash court showcases a vibrant piece that bursts with energy. Its fluid, dynamic design introduces bright colours into the otherwise subtle space, creating a striking contrast. The flowing patterns evoke motion, infusing the area with vitality. In the gaming lounge, custom-made playing card artwork is a captivating focal point, adding intrigue and style to the area.
The brief for the all-day dining area and outdoor café was to transport the residents to Mykonos, Greece, through a design that encapsulates the island’s vibrant spirit. Using a striking palette of white and blue, the space mirrors Mykonos’ iconic architecture and sun-soaked landscapes. Lively colours and curated artwork evoke the essence of the Greek island, creating an immersive experience that feels like a sensory escape. The game room extends this journey with blue, white, and beige tones, a relaxed yet dynamic atmosphere, inviting residents to unwind in a space inspired by the Mediterranean.
Godrej Woods Clubhouse embraces the Japandi design and focuses on simplicity and functionality. The combination of Japanese serenity and Nordic warmth works well with the project’s biophilic approach, creating intimate spaces that integrate nature. The clubhouse’s colour palette blends muted tones with natural elements, infusing the space with warmth. Biophilic accents and thoughtfully curated artwork provide visual contrast, while the minimalistic design and statement furniture enhance the sense of serenity, creating a welcoming atmosphere that strikes a perfect balance between simplicity and elegance.
