Commissioned by Fairwood Design Consortium as part of 452 leading designers chosen to conceptualize Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) – an ambitious project envisioning a “next class” city that would be a benchmark for future city planning and design – where IAAD presented the concept for a waterfront development that was to be the heart of this city.
Envisioned to be built along the main fresh water reservoir, this development is inspired from water itself. The low, fluid, down to scale architecture is designed to house the cultural hub, to engage the community in entertainment, food and water sports. The dual roofing system respects the climate of Gujarat and allows for large shaded areas above the built mass as well as the ground level. A visual axis is formed from the center of the promenade to the diamond tower, which marks the focal node of the city of GIFT.
